KCK Board of Education Honors April Employees of the Month

award

April 2014 Employees of the Month.

Maria Rios

"We nominate Maria Rios, a member of the Wyandotte High School office staff for employee of the month. Maria works in the front office at Wyandotte and she is someone who is always there; ready to help when asked, offering to help before asked; and making whoever she is helping feel like her most important customer. You seldom think about what Maria is responsible for because the work gets done so efficiently and seamlessly. Drop a copy job into the 'in box' (onto a pile of several others), it is done just an hour or two later. Need a truancy report for a field trip? Maria will have it done well before you need it. But what really distinguishes Maria is her understanding of the idea of customer service. If you are a parent or a visitor coming into the office, Maria greets you with her smile and a warm 'How can I help you?' Building staff and visiting parents often compliment her work and helpfulness."
-- Sincerely, Jan Stocstill, principal's secretary & Rich Zak, teacher

Becky Bell

"I would like to nominate Becky Bell for employee of the month for White Church Elementary. I have had the privilege of working with Becky Bell for the past 14 years, both as a fellow classroom teacher and as a teacher leader. She is an essential member of our school and does so much for the staff and students at White Church! Becky has been an educator in USD 500 for 20 years, and I have always been impressed with her willingness to stay on top of the newest research and teaching methods, and how she imparts that knowledge to those around her. Becky is very friendly and approachable and goes above and beyond to make sure she is available to the staff, no matter what time of day or night. She is the kind of person who does so much behind the scenes. Becky Bell is one of the most inspiring people in our district and we are proud to nominate her."

KCK Board of Education Honors September 2015 Employees of the Month

award

The Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education honored two employees as Employees of the Month at their meeting on September 8, 2015.  Employees are pictured (from left) Cassie Woiderski, RN, School Nurse at Morse Early Childhood Center, Bellrose Manor Head Start, Douglass Heights Head Start and Rainbow Mennonite Head Start; and Karen Birt, night custodian at John Fiske Elementary School.

That the Kansas City Board of Education recognizes Cassie Woiderski, RN, School Nurse at Morse Early Childhood Center, Bellrose Manor Head Start, Douglass Heights Head Start and Rainbow Mennonite Head Start; and Karen Birt, night custodian at John Fiske Elementary School as the Employee’s of the Month for September 2015, as recommended by Dr. Evelyn Hudson, Board of Education Member and Chairperson for the Employee of the Month Committee.

“Karen Birt, our night custodian, is one of the hardest working staff members at John Fiske School. She not only does her job with consistent excellence, but also regularly seeks out ways to improve the school  and maintains a clean environment for the students and staff.  She goes above and beyond!!  One small example that exemplifies Karen’s efforts is when she met with the principal and said she would be willing to disinfect and clean teacher desks but they were often cluttered and she didn’t want to move things.  In response, we have set up two days a week that are ‘desk cleaning days’. If teachers declutter their desks she will make them shine.  She demonstrates excellence, respect, and hard work. These are traits that are highly valued at John Fiske Elementary.  She is very deserving of the honor of Employee of the Month.”

Sincerely,
Britt Pumphrey, Teacher Leader

“Cassie Woiderski, spent the majority of her adult life putting others first: parenting 2 children, volunteering at her children’s schools, working at a child care center, volunteering at Juniper Gardens, participating in her church, serving as a mentor to others in need.  Then…..School Nurse Cassie joined our district in September, 2013 at Morse Early Childhood Center.  Since then, she has worked tirelessly with our children, their families and our staff.  She has developed partnerships with our staff to be sure that we are supporting our families the best way we can.  She has been great with the kids!!  Her office is a welcoming area, designed to put students at ease. They will let you know by the excitement of seeing their ‘Nurse Cassie’, or ‘Dentist Cassie’, or my personal favorite, ‘Princess Cassie’!  For all of the above reasons, and many more, I nominate Cassie Woiderski, RN, for Employee of the Month.”

Sincerely,
Debi Apple, Ed. S., Principal
