KCK Board Announces Names of Finalists for Superintendent of Schools

The Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education will interview the following individuals this week for superintendent: Dr. Jayson Strickland, deputy superintendent for Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, and Dr. Charles Foust, chief school performance officer for Union County Public Schools.

The Meet-and-Greet sessions will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. in the board room at the Central Office and Training Center, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kansas on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, June 20 – Meet finalist Dr. Jayson Strickland
  • Thursday, June 21 – Meet finalist Dr. Charles Foust

Two special meetings of the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education are hereby called for on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, and Thursday, June 21, 2018, both at 6:15 p.m., at the KCKPS Central Office and Training Center, 2010 N. 59th Street, Kansas City, Kansas.

In addition to regular business itemized in the published agendas, the Board shall recess to executive session to interview one candidate per meeting for the position of Superintendent pursuant to the exception for Non-elected Personnel under the Kansas Open Meetings Act.

Summer Meal Sites

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Summer Meal Program sites are open. These meals are free of charge and available for the following individuals of the community:

  • Children ages 1-18
  • Anyone over the age of 18 with a disability
  • Adults who accompany a participating child

Dr. Lane Says Thank You!

Dr. Lane’s latest blog is a video focused on thanking teachers, administrators and staff for their incredible work each day to provide students a quality eduation throughout their academic experience with Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS). The video also casts a wonderful spotlight on some of the outstanding work and accomplishments of KCKPS students involved with Diploma+, Literacy Festival, math relays, robotics, partnership organizations and academic programs during this recent school year. 

We truly have a lot to be proud of at KCKPS. Our story is a powerful one that shows what is possible when we work together. We are better together!
