Notice - Time and Place of Special Meeting - December 20, 2018

A special meeting of the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education is hereby called for Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 4:00 p.m., in the Superintendent's conference room on the third floor of the KCKPS Central Office and Training Center, 2010 N. 59th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Board members will attend by telephone.

In addition to regular business itemized in the published agenda, the purpose of such special meeting shall be to approve the Payment of Bills and the Human Resources Report and Recommendations.

 

Sumner Academy Graduate Inducted into KSHSAA Hall of Fame

nielsenSumner Academy graduate and KCKPS Reason to Believe Erik Nielsen, has been selected for induction into the Kansas State High School Activities Association Hall of Fame Class of 2019. Nielsen played several musical instruments in his time at Sumner and went on to graduate from Juilliard and Curtis Schools of Music. Nielsen’s career blossomed as an orchestral and opera conductor allowing him to perform on stages around the world.

Student Honored by Walmart

 Charley Langdon Awarded by Walmart

This week Charlie Langdon, a student at J.C. Harmon High School, received an award from Walmart for being an outstanding employee. He was visited by employees from Walmart, the KCK Police Department and KCK Fire Department. Langdon and his class received a pizza party and Charlie was featured on the side of the Walmart tractor trailer outside of J.C. Harmon High.

Sumner Academy of Arts and Sciences Applications 2019-2020

The online application will be open from November 1, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. and will close on January 11, 2019 at 4 p.m.

On Thursday, November 1, 2018, In-District Students can apply online here.

NOTE: the online application is ONLY for students that are in our schools (USD 500) currently. Private or parochial schools in our district need to come in to Student Services to apply Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
