Alternative Education Pathways
KCKPS is dedicated to preparing every student to be “college and career ready” by the time they graduate high school. In this mission, we recognize that not all students will thrive or reach their full potential in a comprehensive school setting. Our Alternative Education Programs and Services are geared toward expanding educational opportunities through a variety of innovative instructional methods and curriculum. Our mission includes meeting the diverse needs of our students and to prepare them for college and a career. We have formed collaborative partnerships with other educational institutions in Kansas City Kansas and in the region.
Gateway to College (GtC) at Donnelly College offers students, who are behind in credits to graduate from high school or at risk of dropping out of school, the opportunity to earn college credits while completing their high school requirements. GtC students attend school on the campus of Donnelly College in Kansas City Kansas. In addition to receiving dual credit, GtC students are paired with a Resources Specialist that provides academic, emotional and social support.
500 REACH is a virtual learning program allowing students grade 10-12 and adults to earn a high school diploma. Students receive their diploma from the KCK School District while working at their own pace using computer-based instruction. Students also have access to face-to-face support from an onsite instructor at the REACH 500 facility. Registration is year around.
