When Dr. Deloris Pinkard graduated from Sumner High School in 1962, her time in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools was only just beginning. From 1966 to 1992, she held the positions: classroom educator, administrative intern, building principal, and director of elementary personnel.

After spending two years as principal and district coordinator for the Center School District, Deloris returned to Kansas City, Kan., as dean of human resources at Kansas City, Kansas Community College, where she became vice president for executive services in 1995. Deloris held this position until her retirement in 2000.

In over 30 years in education, Deloris exemplified her belief in hard work and high achievements to the thousands of students she had contact with. She believes each individual life is important and we should plan for that life, rather than letting it pass us by.

Her role as president of the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City, Kan., and membership in the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, as well as the numerous other civic and professional organizations, prove she practices what she teaches.

Deloris currently lives in Kansas City, Kan., and is the CEO of DEP2 Consulting (pronounced DEP squared). She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in educational administration from Emporia State University. She also earned a master's degree in educational psychology and research and a doctorate of curriculum and instruction from the University of Kansas. As a scholar, she has been recognized as a Cum Laude, Phi Theta Kappa, and Kappa Delta Pi honors graduate.

Professionally, Deloris has been recognized in Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who Among African Americans, Who's Who in Executives and Professionals, and Who's Who of Professional and Business Women.

Deloris has two adult children, both of whom are exemplary products of KCKPS; Karisse Grigbsy-Whyte and R. Chris Edwards.
