Notice to Parents
The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is putting in place a Re-Enrollment process for all students currently enrolled in KCKPS.
As we begin the fourth quarter of the school year, staff in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) are also hard at work, preparing for next school year. A really important part of this preparation involves planning for the more than 22,000 students we will serve, and making sure that we have the proper staff in place at each of our schools when students show up on August 15 when school starts.
As a part of this preparation, it is important for the district to have an accurate count of the number of students who will be enrolled in the district next year. Having an accurate count of how many students we will have, and which schools they will be attending, will make it much easier to ensure that each student begins the school year in a fully-staffed classroom.
Many of our surrounding districts solve this issue by having all students enroll for the next school year in the spring before. After much discussion, we have decided to implement a Re-Enrollment process in KCKPS. You will find enclosed in this letter a printout of the information the district has for your current KCKPS student.
Parents have two options for enrolling their children. They can return the Re-Enrollment forms to the school, correcting any incorrect items in the column to the right. These forms need to be signed and returned to their child’s school. Parents can also enroll their children and make any changes online by clicking on the link below.
If you have a child who is enrolling in the district for the first time for any grade OTHER than kindergarten, please plan to attend Centralized Enrollment, which will take place at the Central Office and Training Center, 2010 N. 59th Street, Kansas City, KS. on the following dates:
- Wednesday, August 3 - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday, August 4 - 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Friday, August 5 - 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you have any questions about any of the information above, please call Student Services at (913) 279-2248. We look forward to serving your child(ren) in the 2016-2017 school year.
