The Human Resources Department of the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is looking at military veterans as part of its current recruitment efforts. The district will be attending the RecruitMilitary Kansas City Veteran Job Fair scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 22 at Arrowhead Stadium.
KCKPS is currently recruiting to hire for the 2017-18 school year. With nearly 4,000 full and part-time staff, the district is always looking for qualified candidates in a diverse number of fields from teachers to food service professionals to technology specialists to welders and mechanics.
In addition, as part of its Diploma+ initiative, KCKPS is looking for field professionals who can meet nontraditional job qualifications. Diploma+ provides students with the opportunity to graduate from high school with a high school diploma PLUS additional education/credentials or experiences (such as college credits, a technical certification, a work internship, acceptance into the military, etc.). As a pathway to the Diploma+ goal, KCKPS will be establishing College and Career Academies at all the high school for the 2017-18 school year. These academies will focus on the following career themed areas:
- Information Technology
- Health Sciences
- Business and Finance
- Human and Public Services
- Architecture, Engineering and Construction
- Advanced Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics
“Members of our military received specialized training in a number of fields that can make them ideal candidates for our College and Career Academies or other positions with the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools,” said Cynthia Cynthia Fulks, recruitment manager for KCKPS.
Open positions are always posted on “Careers and Employment” page of the KCKPS website, http://kckps.org/index.php/careers-employment .
