Grant Elementary School students got to try out their new playground equipment as well as participate in other fun-filled activities as part of the school’s annual Field Day event on Monday, May 22. Field Day consisted of 14 stations promoting physical fitness. The stations focused on activities, such as relay races, an obstacle course, tug-of-war and more. There was even a parfait station for students to create a healthy snack. The fun activities gave students a chance to move around and enjoy time with friends. The playground equipment was one of the popular stations during Field Day, where students demonstrated a variety of skills from sliding, to hanging upside down and jumping.

Check out the photos of the students on the new playground equipment and view the video of Grant PE Teacher Christine Scharenberg talking about the purpose of Field Day.

The new playground equipment is possible because of the voter approved November 2016 zero-tax increase bond referendum. In addition to the new playground equipment, the $235 million bond allows the school district to make improvements to every school building; build four new schools to replace aging facilities; enhance safety and security measures; provide kitchens in six schools that currently do not have them; and provide career exploration spaces in the middle and high schools.
