Kansas City, KS, July 13, 2017 – On Friday, July 14 at 8 a.m., William Allen White Elementary School’s staff, parents, students and the community will work side-by-side to construct a new playground at the school, just in time for the start of the new academic year next month. The new playground is thanks to Dr. Pepper Snapple Group and national non-profit KaBOOM awarding the school a $15,000 Let’s Play Construction Grant.

“We are so excited William Allen White is the recipient of the grant and as a result of this opportunity we will have a brand new playground for the 2017-18 school year,” said William Allen White Principal Angela Wright.  “I am also proud that this project will be one in which we can all look back on and say we had a role in making it happen from applying for the grant to constructing the playground that will be around for our students and the neighborhood to enjoy for years to come. It is truly something for us to be proud about at the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District,” said Wright.

About 50 volunteers are expected to participate in the building project on Friday, July 14. A supplemental build date is set for Saturday, July 15, if additional construction time is needed for the project.
