Free Barbeque and Splash Party at Heathwood Spray Park on July 6

Kansas City, Kansas, July 3, 2018 – All families and youth are invited to attend Dotte Meals Rock’s summer barbeque and splash party from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 6, at Heathwood Spray Park, 1021 Parallel Pkwy. All youth 18 and under can eat food for free and enjoy fun at the park. Adults accompanying youth at the event will also receive a free meal. 

“The barbeque and splash party will be a great chance for our community to gather, eat a healthy meal, and have some fun in the sun,” said Josh Mathiasmeier, director of Nutritional Services Department for Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools.

The meals provided at this event are provided through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Summer Food Service Program. The USDA is an equal opportunity provider. 

The event’s co-sponsors include the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, Harvesters-The Community Food Network, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, Healthy Communities Wyandotte, Kansas Appleseed and the Kansas State Department of Education.

In addition to barbeque and pool passes, the event’s co-sponsors will share information and resources on free summer meal sites and activities youth can participate in to stay active and engaged all summer long.
