Join Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools for the unveiling of the new artwork on its food truck and meet the talented school district student responsible for the colorful design. The unveiling of the food truck artwork and the student artist will take place at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 22 at Central Middle School, 925 Ivandale St., Kansas City, Kansas. Kansas City, Kansas Public School (KCKPS) administration and local officials will be in attendance.

The food truck art was commissioned through a first-time art contest sponsored by the school district’s Nutritional Services Department. The contest was open to all KCKPS students in elementary, middle and high schools.  More than 50 students submitted artwork for the contest. A community Mobile Meals Task Force selected the winning design, which will be unveiled to the public and the student artist for the first time on May 22.

Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools partners with the Wyandotte County Health Department to address the challenge of transportation related to participation in the Summer Food Service Program. As a result of this partnership, Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools will operate 50 sites around Wyandotte County where free meals will be offered to youth ages 1 to 18. The food truck will be used to transport food to these sites.

Do not forget to mark your calendar so you can attend this event to be a part of the unveiling of the food truck and surprising the talented student artist!
