Legislative Goals 2012

  1. Fulfill the constitutional requirement for the State of Kansas to provide funding for the suitable education of all Kansas Children. This includes rejecting any attempt to place more of the burden for funding education on local taxpayers, which would widen the education gap between wealthy communities and the rest of Kansas.
  2. At-risk funding should continue to be based on poverty.
  3. Any increase in the Local Option budget should be equalized at 100% without proration.
  4. The legislature should reinstate payments for the state portion of Capitol Outlay expenditures (equalization).
  5. Ensure that any response to the current fiscal crisis do not negatively affect the solvency of the KPERS system.
