KCKPS Central Office & Training Center Open House
An estimated 500 community members, staff, students and city leaders attended the Open House for the district's new Central Office and Training Center on February 22. A ribbon cutting and building dedication ceremony kicked off the event with greetings and comments from Gloria Willis, Board of Education president; Benoyd (Butch) Ellison, Unified Government Commissioner for the 8th district; Cindy Cash, president of the KCK Chamber of Commerce; and Dr. Cynthia Lane, superintendent of schools. Following the speakers, the new sculpture stationed outside the main entrance of the building was unveiled to guests. The regular Board of Education meeting was called to order at
5 p.m. Wrapping up the event were student performances by: the All-City Children's Choir, Harp Ensemble and Honor Orchestra, the Sumner Academy String Quartet, and the Sumner Academy Jazz Combo.
