The Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education approved the changes to the 2019-20 negotiated agreement with teachers. Highlights are as follows:
- All returning teachers, with available step movement, will move up a step
- A 1% increase to base
- Added longevity pay/annual stipend for teachers who have been continuously employed for 10 years or more with KCKPS
- Improvements to the salary schedule to make it more competitive for career teachers
- Special Education teachers will receive a 2% stipend above the regular salary schedule

The board also accepted as an informational item a report on the 2019-20 Superintendent’s proposed budget. As part of the budget planning process, the administration has met with the board to discuss budgetary priorities and has hosted small budget workshops. Providing an overview of the estimated receipt of funds and proposed allocation of funds is scheduled to ensure the allocations are in line with the Board of Education’s budget goals.
