Board of Education Highlights – February 27, 2018

The board decided not to renew the school district’s contract with Morgan Hunter for substitute services. The current contract will expire on June 30, 2018. The school district will explore taking care of these services internally in the future.

An update was presented to the board regarding the progress underway at four construction projects made possible by the 2016 voter-approved zero-tax increase bond referendum. There is work underway to prepare for building at the sites for the future Gloria Willis Middle School and the classroom additions and security upgrades at Stony Point North Elementary School and Claude Huyck Elementary School. Progress is also being made on the plumbing work at Wyandotte High School with phase 1 of the bathroom renovations underway.

There will be three groundbreaking events on March 8 to celebrate the work underway at the future Gloria Willis Middle School and the upgrades taking place at Stony Point North and Claude Huyck Elementary schools.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting is Tuesday, Mar. 20 at 5 p.m. in the Central Office and Training Center.
