Dr. Troy Pitsch Named an Instructional Improvement Officer for KCKPS

Troy PitschKansas City, Kansas Public Schools has named Dr. Troy Pitsch an Instructional Improvement Officer for the school district.  He began working at the district on July 1, 2019.

Among the responsibilities of Pitsch in his new role with the school district are supervising and evaluating principals; assisting principals with decision-making and problem-solving; planning and developing programs to be implemented across assigned schools; assisting in the implementation of district initiatives and serving as a liaison between principals and the Chief of Schools.

Most recently, Pitsch was the superintendent of schools – elementary principal for the Unified School District 294 in Decatur County, Kansas. Among his responsibilities were leading the 2A district to achieve the highest levels of excellence for students by providing challenging, meaningful and rewarding educations. Additionally, he incorporated guided, small-group instruction, a progress monitoring system, authored more than $70,000 in grants to acquire student resources, expanded the Pre-K program to double its previous enrollment and helped with facility improvement during his tenure.

He has more than 17 years of educational experience primarily in Title 1 schools in urban settings. He has served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal in Pflugerville Independent School District in Pflugerville, Texas.

Pitsch has a doctorate in education administration – educational policy & planning from the University of Texas at Austin; a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas; and a bachelor’s degree in social studies composite in history and the social sciences education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He also has a district leadership certification from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. He has certifications in District Leadership and Early Childhood – 12 Principal for the state of Kansas.

Pitsch is a member of the American Educational Research Association, and a former regional vice president of Schools for Quality Education, and a former board member of Decatur County Hansen Foundation.
