Update on KCKPS Mask Policy

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released guidance on the ability of fully vaccinated people to resume pre-pandemic activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and work place guidance.

CDC continues to recommend that regardless of the level of community transmission, it is critical that schools implement and layer prevention strategies and should prioritize universal and correct use of masks and physical distancing for at least the remainder of the 2020-2021 academic school year.

Kansas City Kansas Public Schools will continue to require the correct use of masks in both indoor and outdoor settings for all students and staff for the remainder of the 2020-2021 academic year, including activities through July.

Kansas City Kansas Public Schools will monitor updates and recommendations from the CDC, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and the local health department to inform school planning for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Coronavirus vaccines are available for individuals over the age of 12. The Unified Government Public Health Department offers free vaccines Monday-Saturday. Locations and hours of operation can be found at https://wyandotte-county-covid-19-vaccines-unifiedgov.hub.arcgis.com/.
